CAIRO,
May 5 (IslamOnline.net) – Two prominent officials of the Palestinian
Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, have underlined that Cairo
dialogue of the Palestinian factions, currently under preparation,
should aim to protect resistance and Intifada choice.
Both
officials have said that putting an end to the Palestinian resistance
is conditional on stopping Israeli daily aggressions and releasing
thousands of Palestinian prisoners.
Ismail
Abu Haneya, a Hamas official, told IslamOnline.net Monday, May 5, that
he had met this week with the political advisor of the Egyptian
consulate in
Gaza
, who refused to mention his name upon the request of the Egyptian
Embassy.
Abu
Haneya told the political advisor that Hamas welcomes any
inter-Palestinian dialogue, provided it is subject to a number of
rules, chief among them is to protect the choice of resistance and
Intifada and not to relinquish the established rights of the
Palestinian people.
“We
are for any constructive dialogue, but we’ll look into its agenda
first. If it follows the same previous example of absolute demand of
stopping the operations without an Israeli commitment in return, it
will be futile,” Hamas spokesman Abdel Aziz Rantissi said.
About
his meeting with the Egyptian diplomat, Abu Haneya pointed out that he
discussed during it a number of issues, particularly the stance
towards the roadmap, Abu Mazen’s government and Hamas’ agenda.
He
explained that he told the Egyptian officials about Hamas’ refusal,
in principle, of the roadmap, deeming it an Israeli attempt to
penetrate the Palestinian Intifada and stop resistance.
Abu
Haneya also told the Egyptian officials about Hamas’ reservations
regarding Abu Mazen’s government and the struggles it faces;
pointing out that such a government has been formed with direct
foreign interference.
He
denied that his meeting with the Egyptian authorities in
Gaza
“exceptional”, describing it as a normal one that aims to explain
Egypt
’s role with different factions.
He
added that the Egyptian officials had pointed out that they would do
their best to protect the Intifada and the internal stand from any
potential conflict.
Mutual
Cease-Fire
Abu
Haneya underlined Hamas preliminary stance, represented in its
readiness to stop liquidating Israeli civilians, provided that
Israel
commits itself to stop its daily aggressions and release prisoners and
detainees, whose numbers amount to more than 7000 Palestinians.
Meanwhile,
Rantissi said that leaders of the movement take a unified stand
regarding the issue of resistance.
“There
is a general consensus to avoid liquidating civilians, provided that
Israel
adopts the same method and stop its incursions against civilians,”
Rantissi added.
