GAZA
CITY, October 9 (IslamOnline.net) – An aerial footage of the
northern Gaza Strip Jabaliya refugee camp looks like a picturesque
mosaic ceiling of colored stones and glass though the naked eye can
see nothing but destruction and blood.
The
denizens of the battered camp, the largest in the Gaza Strip, proved
their mettle in the bloody Israeli incursion into their homeland,
which entered its eleventh straight day.
They
are busy covering the streets, alleys and homes of the camp with
whatever reaches their hands of cloth, blankets and bed sheets to jam
Israeli drones and protect their fellow resistance fighters.
Israeli
unmanned and state-of-art planes are heavily used in the running raid
into the Gaza Strip to pinpoint the locations of resistance fighters
and assassinate them with satellite-directed missiles.
The
latest operation killed on October 5 a military commander with Al-Quds
Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad.
The
massive Israeli incursion has
plunged the Gaza Strip again in scenes of anguish. Intensely
emotional pictures keep unfolding day in and day out.
Four
Palestinians, including two teenagers and a nine-year-old girl, were
killed by Israeli gunfire in Jabaliya, brining to 98 the number of
Palestinians killed since the Israeli occupation troops launched their
offensive on September 28.
Unique
Unity
Nizar
Rayyan, a Hamas leader in the besieged camp, appealed to the
inhabitants to cover the largest possible part of the streets and
alleys with cloth.
The
move has, in effect, materialized a unique unity between resistance
fighters and lay people, both facing the Israeli military juggernaut.
Piles
of blankets and cloth have been strewn across the streets, noticeably
in Al-Sekka, Tel Kalibou, Tel Zaatar, and Beit Lahya streets, where
resistance operations against the Israeli occupation soldiers have
gained momentum.
In
times of war, necessity is indeed the mother of invention for all
Palestinians.
They
come up with creative methods to obstruct Israeli reconnaissance
operations and resist the ground occupation troops.
They
set fire to tires, sending towering columns of black smoke to the sky,
making the job difficult for the drones.
"The
Israeli occupation has embarked recently on using drones in what it
calls ‘targeted assassinations’ instead of the Apache
helicopters," Popular Resistance Committee Spokesman Abu Abeer
told IslamOnline.net.
"They
strike their target precisely, thanks to its sophisticated equipment
and weaponry."
Israeli
Yediot Ahranot newspaper reported on October 3 that the Israeli air
force had developed a drone equipped with missiles and bombs in
cooperation with a US company.
