Egypt Closes Rafah Crossing
Egypt closed Rafah border crossing with Gaza Strip on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, following the turmoil created by the Palestinians who wanted to cross from Gaza into Egypt, officials in Gaza said. Egypt had decided to open Rafah crossing for three days from Tuesday to Thursday. On Tuesday very few numbers of Palestinian travelers, most of them patients, managed to leave the Gaza Strip. Hundreds of Palestinian travelers broke into the Egyptian side of Rafah crossing on Wednesday and the Egyptian police used water canons to disperse them.
