Sunday First Day of Eid al-Fitr in Gulf, Egypt, Jordan
DOHA, Dec. 14 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - Qatari state media announced late Friday that Saturday, December 15, is the last day of the holy month of Ramadan, and that Sunday marks the start of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, celebrated by Muslims worldwide as the break of their month-long fast.
A statement released by the Crescent Moon Inspection Committee, headed by Qatari Islamic courts, read: "Nobody has informed the committee of seeing the Shawwal crescent moon, and it hasn't been witnessed in any other neighboring country."
In Riyadh, the Saudi Judicial Council announced Friday evening that Sunday will be the first day of the Feast, and wished peace and welfare to all Arab and Muslim countries in the world.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Jordan will celebrate the first day of the Eid al-Fitr on Sunday, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
