LONDON,
March 12 (IslamOnline.net) – Anti-war protesters are expected to
demonstrate their solidarity with the Iraqi people on March 15, in a new
wave of mass worldwide rallies worldwide one month after the February 15
world day for protesting war on Iraq, on which some 10 million
peace-loving people took to the streets of 600 cities all over the
world.
U.S.
pacifists in the “International
Answer” anti-war movement said millions of Americans are expected
to go to the White House carrying placards reading: “The Emergency
Meeting of Protesting War before the White House.”
The
movement is also to organize other rallies in some U.S. states,
including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Chicago.
It
will also launch another mass rally in London, to be followed by sponsor
a concert entitled “One Big No”, a reminiscent of the famed
“WoodStock” concert, which protested the U.S. Vietnam war and
capitalism in a 1969.
In
the meantime, Member
of the House of Commons George Galloway, one of the staunchest opponents
to war on Iraq, revealed the plans set up by the anti-war protesters
should the U.S. wage a war on Iraq.
In
an interview with the Egyptian television on Sunday, March 9, Galloway
said the anti-war strategy, should war break out, would be aimed
primarily at putting an end to such a war as rapid as possible by
declaring civil disobedience inside the United Kingdom.
Galloway
further said the demonstrators will spread themselves over the railways
in Britain and other countries, urging the British people not to vote
for Blair in the coming elections for his wrong-headed policies, which
had shaken Britain’s credibility in the eyes of the world.
People’s
Assembly For Peace
For
its part, Stop the
War coalition called for forming a parliament called “People’s
Assembly For Peace” that would include all British peace activists
from all walks of life to give voice to the people’s fierce opposition
to war taking “Everyone who protested against war can join us” as
its motto.
The
“MPs” said they are going to choose the “speaker” later on
Tuesday, March 12, noting that all British cities would have
representatives in the peace parliament.
A
number of Islamic organizations and mosques here in Britain said they
would join the parliament with two representatives on behalf of each
organization and mosque.
Anti-war
protesters will also take to the streets of Paris, Amsterdam, Sydney,
Tokyo, Luxembourg, Beirut and Damascus.
Joining
hands with the British anti-war movements, the Cairo-based popular
campaign for resisting the U.S. aggression on Iraq and supporting the
Palestinian people said it will organize a rally in front Cairo
University on the same day.
