Filipinos Mark Andres Bonifacio’s Birthday 
Demonstrators of a labor group, dressed as revolutionary “Katipuneros,” marched to the Malacanang presidential palace in Manila, Monday, November 29, 2004, during a rally staged to mark the birth of Philippine working-class hero Andres Bonifacio, who led the Katipuneros in 1896 to a failed war of independence against Spain’s colonial rulers. The demonstrators urged the Filipinos to wage war against poverty and denounced Philippine President Gloria Arroyo’s trade liberalization campaign.
