Marriage - A Thing of the Past?
A recent published study indicated that, in the United States, people are either marrying later or not at all. Of course, the United States is not a Muslim country, but the number of Muslims is ever increasing. In the greater metropolitan Detroit area alone there are over 1 million Muslims. Is the phenomenon of people marrying later or not at all true in the Muslim community as well?


The Importance of the Father The father is an integral part of the family. Traditional family values have always maintained this and few would doubt that a father figure is a positive thing for children. Experts say that within the next decade, the number of unconventional families will outnumber "traditional" ones. More and more, research shows that we may be heading in a bad direction. For example: "In 1965, parents on average spent approximately 30 hours a week with their kids. By 1985, the amount of time had fallen to 17 hours."

Mut'a Marriage On the Rise in Turkey
Mut'a, or temporary, marriages are spreading in Turkey, according to Turkish Religious Committee Chairman Mohammed Nori Yalmaz. He released a statement in Assabah newspaper expressing his dissatisfaction with this type of marriage. Yalmaz pointed out that Islam promotes family stability and marriage continuity and bans temporary.
